9-11 birthdate

9-11 is a good date for me….it is my birthday. This year I traveled to Mexico with my husband; this is a favorite destination of ours. I found new inspiration in Mexico on this trip. The palm trees and patterns cast onto the pavement attracted my attention. (More on this topic below.)

After the tragedy occurred on 9-11-01, I felt like “my” date had been stolen. My husband feels sorry for me. and he tries to make it up to me every year. In the beginning I did feel strange on my birthday as the tragedy overshadowed the day. Each year since I have slowly overcome this feeling. But, each year my husband continues to offer “condolences”. Now it boils down to this: I am cashing in, but in reality, he likes the outings he plans too.

We travel to Mexico several times a year. We really LOVE the turquoise waters, the sun, the blue/violet skies, the food and most of all the people. They are very kind and grateful to have us as their guest.

We just returned from an eight day trip there. It coincided with their Independence Day. They conducted special ceremonies at our resort. This was a first for me. The celebration was glorious!

I have been so many times that I often do not take my camera along; however, this time I took it with the specific purpose of taking pictures for potential subject matter. I had a focus in mind.
